WHAT WE'RE BUILDING
We're making AI companions that change over time based on how users interact with them. Not chatbots with canned responses. When someone teaches their Soul to paint, it actually develops that capability. The growth persists and compounds.
THE JOB
You'll own the core systems that make this work. Ship features users love. Build the infrastructure that lets AI actually evolve through interaction. You'll work directly with founders on hard problems nobody has solved yet.
This is a founding engineer role. You won't just write code. You'll shape what the product becomes.
WHAT YOU'LL BUILD
- • The system that lets AI rewrite its own capabilities through interaction
- • Real-time features where users watch their Soul develop
- • Infrastructure for millions of persistent AI relationships
- • Eval frameworks to make sure Souls stay authentic and safe
- • APIs other developers will build on
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- • You've built LLM apps that do more than chat
- • You can architect systems and also ship features quickly
- • You use AI tools heavily in your own work
- • You think shipped code beats perfect code
- • You want to figure out how to make AI feel alive
- • You have opinions about how AI should work, but you'll change them when you learn something new
- • You can take fuzzy ideas and turn them into working systems
- • You've built things where latency really matters
Technical
- • 3-5 years shipping production code, fast-moving environments
- • Python/FastAPI and React/Next.js
- • Real-time systems, complex state management
- • Comfortable with the whole stack, database to frontend
BONUS
- • You've built virtual pets, game characters, or progression systems
- • You have thoughts on why Tamagotchis died but Neopets stuck around
- • You've pushed AI to do something unexpected
- • You've shipped to millions of users
OUR STACK
Python/FastAPI backend, React/Next.js frontend, ScyllaDB for storage, and the best LLMs we can get our hands on. But honestly, we care more about what you can ship than what frameworks you know.
